ROTARY NEPAL DISASTER APPEAL
Donate NOW to help fund Rotary projects to assist the people of Nepal to recover from the widespread damage caused by the recent flooding event. The flooding has left affected families without homes, possessions, and livelihoods, and has raised concerns about the spread of waterborne diseases due to damaged water and sanitation infrastructure.
Founded in 1966, RAWCS (Rotary Australia Worldwide Community Service) delivers Rotary’s humanitarian, development, and disaster relief projects both in Australia and internationally. Over the years, we have contributed $0.5 billion in aid and completed thousands of projects, benefiting hundreds of thousands of people across 45 countries.

Memorial Hall Centenary
Congratulation to the Memorial Cooroy Memorial Hall for organising the wonderful centenary celebration last weekend. It was a superb community event.

Australia mobilise ROMAC medical teams 
Baby Xinyue needed urgent surgery but a missed connecting flight meant her life was in jeopardy. Then surgeons in different cities — and the ROMAC team (Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for Children) — stepped up to help.
A medical referral reached ROMAC quickly and thanks to swift coordination across our network, mother and baby were on a plane from Honiara by Friday afternoon accompanied by a medical escort.
It is often said it takes a village to raise a child. In Xinyue’s case, an entire village across Oceania and Australia mobilised within hours — medical teams, ROMAC volunteers, Directors and hospital staff each playing a vital role to ensure Xinyue’s safety and to give her the best chance of a healthy future.
Xinyue’s story is a powerful reminder of what compassion, partnership, and rapid action can achieve for our children.

Rotary Malaria Vaccine Project.
Cooroy Rotary has repatriated a total 135kg of coins and notes which equates to a donation value of $12,000 to the Rotary Malaria Vaccine Project. Not bad for otherwise worthless bits of metal and paper hidden away forgotten in drawers!
Imagine if by 2028 we have a game changing proven vaccine and that by 2033 it could be rolled out to the countries that need it most. For the past 10 years Griffith University, in partnership with Rotary, has been developing a vaccine candidate that could make this a reality.
Our thanks and gratitude go to all the Bendigo Bank branches and especially our local branch in Cooroy for facilitating the money collection boxes and for all the travellers donating left-over currency.

The Rotary Western Queensland Flood Appeal was more than a response; it is a blueprint for resilience. Last year floodwaters surged through homes and businesses, but help came fast. Rotary District 9620, of which Cooroy is part, and Rotary District 9560 backed by the strength of Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS) and generous Australians nationwide funds were provided to deliver early cash support and emergency accommodation. Twelve families waiting months for permanent repairs were provided with safe shelter and there are more plans ahead.
