  WORLD POLIO DAY 

24 OCTOBER 2024

The world has made huge strides against polio with cases down 99.9% over the last four decades. With renewed global attention and commitment, we can finally beat polio, but the last stretch is the toughest.

Unless we eradicate polio, within 10 years, as many as 200,000 new cases could occur around the world each year. In the past few years, only two countries have reported cases of polio caused by the wild virus, but no child anywhere is safe until we’ve vaccinated every child.

World Polio Day is a time for Rotary members, public health advocates, and all who want a world free from polio to come together, recognize our progress in the fight to end polio, and talk about the actions we need to take in order to end polio for good. More Information

Zero Emissions Noosa. (ZEN)

Mark Purcell and Nikki Thornton from Zero Emissions Noosa Inc. (ZEN) spoke at the Rotary Cub of Cooroy meeting on Monday 21 October.

ZEN is a community group of passionate volunteers with the goal of net zero greenhouse gas emissions for the Noosa Shire by 2026. They support our community by assisting them to ask the right questions when seeking energy solutions for their home or business.

  Meeting weekly here in Cooroy with like-minded people, Rotarians have the expertise and contacts to make things happen. We are supporting local charities, helping to eradicate polio worldwide, we’re providing disaster relief, improving youth opportunities locally and globally, and having a great time doing so.
